I noticed a relatively new feature in my Smartbrief on Leadership newsletter called Weekend Reading. For those of you who aren’t subscribed already, Smartbrief is a free publication that offers you a collection of the best reading around the internet. I especially enjoy it because I don’t have to subscribe to a whole bunch of different publications to get a lot of great information.
Anyhoo, this feature about books got me thinking about my own reading stack and how it’s time to start my summer reading. You know, it’s that time of year when the kids are out of school and vacation is just a pleasant memory. I’ve written before about the importance of being well-read and what better time to catch up on reading – when you can go to the beach or by the lake and relax with a good book.
So I wanted to share some books with you to start your summer reading. Thanks to the generosity of several authors, I’ve been able to put together a summer reading package. It includes:
- Zilch – The Power of Zero in Business by Nancy Lublin, founder of Dress for Success
- Lead Well and Prosper: 15 Successful Strategies for Becoming a Good Manager by Nick McCormick
- Leaving Prisons – Release Your Trapped Value! by David McCleary
And because I don’t want you to get sunburned and dehydrated while reading, I’m tossing in a SnagAJob.com tee and a $25 Starbucks gift card. Maybe I’ll throw in a few more goodies too…
So how do you win this Summer of Reading gift package? Become a fan of HR Bartender on Facebook. And, if you already “like” us on Facebook – thank you so much! You totally rock (but you knew that)!!
Then go to the HR Bartender Facebook page and leave a comment with the name of a book on your summer reading list. Doesn’t have to be a business or work book. Just a book you’re hoping to read over the summer. And, if you’ve read a book on someone’s list and want to comment on it, feel free to join in the conversation. That’s it! You’ll be entered to win.
Thanks to everyone for your support, kind words and encouragement. You guys are awesome. Cheers!

Wonderful post, and great idea! I get excited just hearing the words “summer reading list!”
Have you seen Library Thing? I’m not sure how long it’s been around, but it’s awesome. It’s kind of a social networking site for books. You can catalog all the books you own, list books you want to read, view others’ book lists. Very fun! http://www.librarything.com
