Quick Shots for #HR and #Business Pros – March 2015

Essential Meeting Blueprints, conferences, events, SHRM, ATD, talent development, business, book

Where has the year gone?! I feel like only yesterday I was putting away the holiday decorations and now it’s Spring!  Before I know it, I’ll be looking for 2016 Planners. The good news is with Spring comes some great HR events. I’m so looking forward to some travel!

Next week, I will be attending SHRM’s Business Acumen: Integrating HR Across Operations seminar here in Fort Lauderdale. The agenda looks very interesting and I can’t wait to share my takeaways with you. SHRM offers various seminars like this one in cities across the nation and prior to their annual conference, which is being held in Las Vegas on June 28-July 1. For details check out the conference website.

I’m also attending Human Capital Media’s Chief Learning Officer Symposium in Miami on April 13-15. Investing in our employees has never been more important for business growth. This is my first time at a Human Capital Media event and I’m hoping this symposium will provide some insights for the future of learning.

Don’t forget that the Association for Talent Development’s International Conference and Expo (aka ATD ICE) is being held in Orlando on May 17-20. I always enjoy this event for its global perspective about learning.

I would also be terribly remiss if I didn’t mention one important thing that happened during the month of March. My first book, Essential Meeting Blueprints for Managers, was released (finally!) We all know what a bad meeting feels like. I wrote this book to be used as a guide for organizing and managing fun, engaging meetings. It’s available on Amazon in both hardcopy and Kindle. As well as in the iTunes store.

Thank you so much for reading HR Bartender. You’re support means more than words can express. Cheers!

P.S. Next week, mark your calendars! April 3 is not only Mr. Bartender and my 28th anniversary but it’s National Walk to Work Day. Even if it’s impossible to walk the commute into work, use it as an opportunity to put some extra steps into your day. Walk to Lunch Day? The important thing is to add some activity.
