Sometimes the activities we can do the fastest aren’t the ones we should do first.

I’ve been caught by this many times. I see something that will only take five minutes, so I decide to get it off my desk. Then another one. Before I know it, I’ve done a whole bunch of little things…but the important item is still on my desk.

Being able to establish priorities is important – more than it’s ever been. When we’re faced with a long list of to-do’s, we have to know which ones to tackle first. Today’s Time Well Spent from our friends at Kronos is a reminder that priorities matter.

This cartoon also reminded me how having a good Wi-Fi signal can be a priority at times.

But seriously, technology helps us accomplish many things. If we can check something off our list in five minutes, then yes – it might make sense to go ahead and make that happen. But there are times when establishing priorities is critical and those 5-minute tasks should be postponed.

Knowing your priorities and setting them wisely can increase productivity.
