Quick Shots for #HR and #Business Pros – Conference Travel Edition

quick shots, conference, travel, conference travel, SHRM, HR Technology Conference

Mr. Bartender and I just returned from our annual strategy session. Every year we take a little time off during the summer to plan for the next twelve months. We talk about our company, ITM Group, the blog and goals. While many organizations use Q3 and Q4 for budgets, strategies and plans, we’ve found that the summer is best from a scheduling perspective.

Speaking of scheduling, I’m changing up my personal planner for 2016. Last year, I backed a Kickstarter campaign called Passion Planner. I’ve been using it this year and, while it has several features I like a lot (i.e. the good things that happened box is one of my faves), I wanted something different. So I’m embracing my “work hard, play hard” side and going with an Erin Condren planner. I really like the fun designs. If you decide you want a little whimsy in your 2016 calendar, feel free to use this referral code. I think I get something if you make a purchase.  😉

For years, I’ve said this Belkin 3-Outlet Plug with USB Charger was my go-to conference accessory. What better way to network with people and not be an outlet hog? Well, I might have a new fave – the Jackery Giant+. It allows you to charge 2 devices at the same time. Wanna make friends at events? Share a charger with them. Jackery sent me one and I’m looking forward to test-driving this more as fall conference season gets underway.

Speaking of conference season, I’m looking forward to my first trip to London to speak at Tucana’s HR Change & Transformation 2015. Tucana has put together an awesome agenda focused on the real business issues human resources pros are facing including workforce planning, performance management and digital transformation. I hope to see you there. And if you know a place to have a proper cuppa tea, let me know! It’s the one thing I must find time for…

Another fave conference of mine is the HR Technology Conference & Expo. This year, I’m part of their “HR Insiders” team and will be brining you updates before, during and after the event. Be sure to follow the hashtag – #HRTechConf and check out the Insiders blog. Also on the HR Insiders team are friends Heather Bussing, Gareth Jones, Mary Kaylor, Jennifer Payne, Tim Sackett and Robin Schooling.

What’s on your fall conference travel calendar this year?
