Reactions to Job Seekers Social Media Activity [infographic] – Friday Distraction

Using social media in recruiting is fairly mainstream these days. Companies can post jobs and strengthen their employment brand on social platforms. Job seekers can find out about openings and learn more about employers.

What continues to be evolving is the next step – how recruiters use social media to determine if a candidate is a good fit. This infographic from Column Five Media and JobVite offers some insight into how the information we post on social media is being interpreted.

No surprise that volunteerism is a positive and illegal drug use is a negative. But I do find it interesting that the use of profanity has a more negative reaction than grammatical errors and alcohol consumption. I also found the neutral reaction to religious and political posts fascinating.

I’m interested to know what you think about this. Is dropping the f-bomb on social sites really more negative than misspelling the word harassment or posting photos after one too many margaritas?
