Playing Hooky – Friday Distraction

Does the concept of “playing hooky” exist anymore? Today’s Time Well Spent cartoon from Kronos got me thinking.
As a consultant, my personal and professional lives are very blended. I work on weekends. And I love going to the beach in the middle of the week (when I can get away). It’s quiet. I like grocery shopping on weekdays – no crowds. But if a client saw me post a selfie with a pina colada on a Wednesday afternoon, does that mean I’m playing hooky? Not sure I’d agree.
Mobile and social technologies allow us to put our lives out on public display. As a watcher/listener on these platforms, I have to be careful not to pass judgment. For many, the traditional work week just doesn’t exist anymore.
