The Things Managers Need to Know – All in One Book

I’m really delighted to share with you a project I’ve been working on with Lisa Haneberg, author of the blog Management Craft. Lisa has assembled an awesome collection of management writers to create “The ASTD Management Development Handbook”.

The book is anything and everything you really need to know about management. I was honored to write a chapter titled “Positively Using Your Power”. In it, I talk about workplace influence and power, understanding the types of power you have and how to use that power.

The book also covers topics we’re all faced with as managers such as “Should Managers Care about Employee Happiness?” and “How Team Building Really Works” along with addressing some new subjects like “How to Run a Great Web Meeting”. Many of my favorite writers are included, such as Michael Kroth PhD, Bret Simmons PhD, Kevin Eikenberry, Terry “Starbucker” St. Marie, Tanmay Vora, Steve Roesler, and Wally Bock.

You can download a chapter of the book by clicking here. And you can purchase the book in the ASTD Store.

I certainly wish I would have had a book like this when I was a first-time manager. Or when I was faced with a new challenge. Hopefully, you find it a useful resource. Happy Reading!
