A Little April Fools Cheers

Today’s April Fools’ Day…you know, the holiday where people make up ridiculous tales and try to convince people they are really happening only to yell “April Fools” at the end.  I was actually thinking maybe I should write a post that HR Bartender is being bought by AOL.  No seriously – can’t ya see it, Arianna Huffington as the new face of HRB. Convinced?  Yep, April Fools!  Ha.ha.  But I digress.

In looking up a little Fool info, I discovered this informal holiday has been around since the 1300’s and is celebrated around the world.  In some countries like Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, the jokes and frivolity only last until noon.  If you try to pull any tricks after then, you’re officially designated the “April Fool”.

But in addition to thinking about humor and shenanigans for April 1, I’m always on the lookout for great recipes.  The fool is an English dessert, made by whipping together raspberry puree and sweetened cream.  Here’s a recipe in case you’d like to give it a try.

I also found the recipe for an adult beverage called the Trickster.  It includes amaretto, vodka, brandy, coffee liqueur and Irish cream.  You can check it out here.

Here’s hoping you don’t have too many tricks today. Cheers!
