Happy Saint Patty’s Day
Today is St. Patrick’s Day. Regardless of your heritage, you probably know that it’s a holiday that’s become about celebrating the Irish, wearing green, eating green bagels and drinking green beer. Not that’s there is anything wrong with that, of course…but did you know:
- The original color associated with Saint Patrick was blue.
- The largest Saint Patrick’s Day festival takes place in Ireland. It lasts 5 days with over 1 million people in attendance.
- The smallest celebration takes place in Dripsey, Cork. The parade goes for 100 yards (between the village’s two pubs.)
St. Patrick’s Day is recognized around the world with large celebrations in Canada, Argentina, Great Britain, South Korea, Japan and New Zealand.
I’m a little bummed that I’m away from home on St. Patty’s Day. Mr. B and I like to celebrate. But, I’ll be in the Washington DC area participating in a focus group on human resources and social media. And, I will have friends with me.
