Introducing: Ask HR Bartender

I was recently faced with a dilemma.  Members of the HR Bartender Community ask me questions on a regular basis.  And while I can always just write a response…I also miss the conversation.

Now, I like problem solving.  As a kid, I loved jigsaw puzzles, word games, math problems, even the Rubik’s Cube.  My father always made sure my Christmas stocking had some sort of mind-challenging game in it.

These days I’ve traded in my word search puzzles for Sudoku (totally addicted).

I think my love of problem solving is one of the reasons I enjoy the human resources profession.  Many times, employees would come to talk through their challenges and want someone to help them reach a resolution.  It’s one of the reasons I started HR Bartender – hopefully, my mistakes and stories are a resource for people who might be going through similar things.

So, in response to this dilemma,  I’ve decided to try something new.

(Drum roll please…)  HR Bartender’s newest feature will answer your questions.

I thought it would be fun to take the questions people ask me and give a video response.  Just a short, smartphone-friendly piece you can check out during your morning commute or on a coffee break.  And, I’ve come up with the super unique and catchy name – “Ask HR Bartender” – LOL!  In addition, you’ll be able to access all of the videos on the HR Bartender YouTube channel!

Anyhoo, my first question is a really great one.  A reader wants to know how to determine if job candidates are a flight risk.  I’ll be running this first installment next week – hope you can check it out.

If you have a question you’d like me to answer, just send it to me via my contact page.

Thanks again for reading (and watching!) HR Bartender.  I hope you enjoy the new feature.  Cheers!
