My Morning Coffee

One of the blogs I read every day is called the South Florida Daily Blog.  I enjoy their format – each week, they post a morning compilation of news from the local blogs called “The Cooler”.  And, every evening, they do the same thing called “Your Evening Sift”.  The random thoughts format is a fun read…so for my last post of the year, I thought I would pay tribute to a local fave with my own “morning coffee” post of thoughts.

First and foremost, I wanted to extend my thanks to you for your readership and support.  I can’t begin to tell you how much it means to me.  When I started writing HR Bartender, it never occurred to me what an impact it would have on my professional development and the relationships I would enjoy.  You’re amazing and it’s amazing to me.

I also want to thank Silkroad Technology and Etheon for their sponsorship support.  They are both super cool companies – I hope you will check out their offerings.  And I’m grateful for the partnership.

Several bloggers are using their wrap-up post of the year to showcase their “best of” posts.  So of course, it got me wondering.  What were the best posts here at HR Bartender?  Now, we all know “best” can be defined many different ways.  I decided to find out by analyzing what posts were visited the most.  Couple didn’t surprise me.  But a couple did.

Here’s the list (in case you were wondering):

7 Types of Power in the Workplace

My Favorite Interview Question

The Real Reason for Exit Interviews

Healthy Competition

It’s an interesting list.  And I’m delighted that so many people enjoyed the posts.  It also made me realize that maybe, as we head into the New Year, there are some topics we should resurrect.  I believe there are some important subjects we need to make sure don’t fall between the cracks.  So, I did a little searching around the blog and found my “wish list”.  Here are a few topics I hope we can spend more time talking about in 2011:

OP-ED: The Key is Job Creation

Help for Long-Term Unemployment

I also think e-learning, m-learning and social learning are emerging subjects to keep on the radar.  They have the ability to transform training and development.  Especially with the workforce becoming more mobile and virtual.

So there ya go.  The morning coffee convo at the Bartender’s.

Let me know what topics are important to you.  What subjects should we make sure stay “front and center” for companies?

Or at least, tell me what’s your morning beverage of choice?  Mr. B and I are drinking peppermint mochas.

Anyone who leaves a comment will be eligible in a drawing for a HR Bartender Happy New Year Mystery Package.  (I promise it will be good!)  Cheers!
