Dine Out to End Childhood Hunger

First Lady Michelle Obama is using her considerable influence to raise awareness for childhood obesity.  No doubt, it’s an extremely important cause and one we should all learn more about.

But there’s a flip side to the eating issues facing American children – hunger.  17 million children in America struggle to find enough nutritious food for healthy development.  It’s a problem that crosses all demographics.  And, unfortunately, it’s a problem that has been exacerbated by the weakened economy.

My friend Amanda Hite, CEO of Talent Revolution, is using her considerable influence to raise awareness for this important cause.  She’s getting the word out about Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign and the Great American Dine Out.

Yes, believe it or not, you can support the No Kid Hungry campaign simply by dining out during the week of September 19 – 25.  Participating restaurants will donate a percentage of their proceeds to Share Our Strength.  The more you dine out, the more money you help raise.  It’s just that simple!

Now, as a dedicated foodie, this is a cause I can really get behind!  I did a quick search and found 75 area restaurants that are participating in the Great American Dine Out.  So, I’m sure you can find one near you.  You can even send an eVite to help spread the word to friends and family.  They also have an Employee Newsletter Template to help you generate support on a corporate level.

Learn more about the Great American Dine Out and get all the latest developments by following them on Twitter and Facebook.  And, when you go, don’t forget to check-in at these restaurants on Foursquare!

It’s a fun way to support a very serious cause.  Thanks to Amanda and Share Our Strength for spreading the word.  I know Mr. Bartender and I will do our part.  I hope you’ll join us . . . Cheers!
