HR Florida 2009

Starting today, I’ll be attending HR Florida 2009.  HR Florida is the state affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).  The conference will be a new experience for me.  You see, in the past, I’ve always been involved in planning and running the conference…this year, I get the opportunity to see the event from a new perspective.  As a speaker and sponsor.

On Monday, I’ll be moderating a panel discussion about blogging and human resources.  I’m very excited to be included with some of the best and brightest bloggers around – Kris Dunn, Jessica Lee, Michael Long, Laurie Ruettimann, and Michael VanDervort.  It’s sure to be an informative discussion.  (Special thanks to Ben Yoskovitz at Standout Jobs and Susan Burns at Talent Synchronicity for letting us share their Definitive Guide to Corporate HR Blogging.  If you want a copy of this terrific resource, you can get it there.)

Then it’s off to the expo I go!  This year my consulting firm, ITM Group, Inc., is a Platinum Sponsor of the event.  So if you’re coming to the conference, please stop by our booth (519) and say hello.

On Tuesday, I have the opportunity to talk about what I do, which is workplace training.  I’ll be presenting a session on one of our most popular topics, The Six Principles of Successful Self-Management.  Jason Mannino over at The Huffington Post recently covered the importance of this subject.  With everyone being asked to do more with less, creating a workforce that can self-manage is key.  I predict we’re going to see a lot more about self-management since it aligns perfectly with the philosophy of corporate agility.

I’m not going to give away what the six principles are…you’ll just have to come to the session to find out.

It will be an exciting couple of days ahead for me and, hopefully, the attendees as well.  Hope to see you at HR Florida 2009.
