Let’s Celebrate the End of 2009!

I’m sure some of you will agree with me that 2009 can’t be done and over with soon enough.  It’s been a tough year and we’ve been challenged to rethink our lives, our careers, and the way we do things.

As we put 2009 behind us, there might be a temptation to think about the past.  Things we had or stuff we used to do.  It might be easier to recall all of the negative things that happened during the year.  But I’d like to challenge us to put all of that negative behind us.  Take a moment to focus on the positive things that have come out of 2009.

Here’s just a handful of the things I was reminded of this year:

I’ve also learned that the best martini I’ve ever had…is the one I make at home.  And I look forward to Friday pizza at home date night just as much as dining out with Mr. B at a fancy restaurant.

When we wake up Friday morning, it’s important to remember no grand switch was flipped at midnight.  Many of today’s challenges will still be there.  It’s how we deal with them that makes the difference.  And, if we want positive outcomes . . we need to put the negative past behind us.

Thank you for being a part of the HR Bartender community.  You are one of the best things in my 2009.  Cheers!

P.S.  This Bartender tries to make a resolution each year.  I wanted to share with you my goal for 2010.  Several weeks ago, my friend Amanda Hite at Talent Revolution shared her Facebook Vision Board.  It’s a photo album of the things important to her.  Then this month, I saw Seth Godin’s post about What Matters Now, a compilation of ideas for the new year.  I was inspired by Amanda and Seth’s desire to encapsulate their feelings and ideas.  So I’ve decided to create a personal vision board.

This year, I’m going to take photos of the things that matter most to me.  I’m not a professional photographer so this should be interesting.  Haven’t decided if I’m going to post them on the blog, on my Facebook page or my Flickr account…or all of the above.  But that’s my goal for 2010.  It should be fun and interesting journey.

Got a resolution to share?  Drop it in the comments below.  Happy New Year!
