Left Behind

Recently, I spoke to a group of HR Pros on social media.  My presentation centered around why they should use it and how to leverage it in their HR Departments and companies.  During the presentation, someone asked about becoming more involved with social media.  Their point was, social media has exploded on the scene and it was easy to fall behind on this quickly evolving medium.  How do you know where to start?

Good question.  I’ve written before about the importance of embracing technologyMark Stelzner at Inflexion Advisors also penned a great post recently on HR and Web 3.0.  And the news has articles every day about companies that should have been more active in social media.  If you’re not making an attempt to learn and participate, well…you’ve got some catching up to do.

One place to start learning about all things social media is by reading MashableMashable is the world’s largest social networking news blog.  While you’re there, be sure to check out my new post called “Should Your Company Have A Social Media Policy?” with props to my friends Shannon Seery Gude, Eric B. Meyer and Scott Monty for the excellent advice.

So what are you waiting for?  Get involved with social media.  Chances are your employees are already actively engaged.  Maybe even your colleagues.  You don’t want to be left behind, do you?
