HR Raging Debates

When I was in high school, I was on the debate team.  My debate partner looked just like Earl Hickey from My Name is Earl.  And, the captain of the team was pure Douglas C. Neidermeyer from Animal House.  It was a terrific experience that really has helped me in later life.  You learn how to research an issue and present a clear, compelling position.  (On a side note, I do find it interesting that our debate topic for the year was on oil dependency and all these years later we’re still debating the issue.)

Now let’s fast forward several years…

I meet the terrific folks from Halogen Software this summer at the SHRM Annual Conference in New Orleans.  Over a wonderful lunch with fellow blogger Lance Haun, we start a spirited discussion about performance management in today’s workplace.

Not too long after that, Halogen asks if I would participate in a virtual roundtable discussion about talent management.  Sounds cool…so I said ‘sure!’  Well, I had no clue how really cool this roundtable would be.  Halogen assembled a list of true rock stars to discuss key issues about talent.  I’m absolutely honored to be included alongside such an esteemed group of professionals.

The virtual roundtable is called HR Raging Debates.  The forum brought together ten voices in the HR community to discuss their views on talent, performance, social media, and human resources.  I hope you’ll check it out.  There’s no shortage of opinions.  For me, it was interesting to see where the group’s thoughts aligned and where they diverged.

The site also allows you to have your say on the topics.  Kudos to Halogen for making the site very interactive.

My thanks to Halogen Software for inviting me to participate in the discussion.  And I look forward to connecting with you over at HR Raging Debates.
