Because You Can’t Do It Alone

Besides one of my favorite holidays – Halloween – last week was just full of activity for me.  It’s one of those weeks where you realize how cool your life is, how many wonderful people are in your network, and how grateful you are for the opportunities presented.  I wanted to share with you just a little bit of my week so you can see what I mean.

I started out the week moderating a panel discussion on retaining top performers at IQPC’s Talent Management Summit in Chicago.  It’s always terrific when you get to put faces with avatars so I was excited to meet Michelle Cardinal from IQPC and Katherine Mehr from HRIQ.  They are super nice and were very gracious hostesses.  I’m looking forward to working with them again in a couple of weeks at Corporate University Week in Orlando.

Also while in Chicago, I got the chance to have dinner with Jason Seiden, Charee Klimek and Lisa Rosendahl. What a treat!  I really owe a huge shout-out to Lisa.  When we had a last minute cancellation on the panel discussion, Lisa came to the rescue.  She offered attendees some great perspective about talent retention in today’s workplace.  Thank you Lisa for the save.

Jason shared with me a copy of his book, “How to Self-Destruct: Making the Least of What’s Left of Your Career”.  Good stuff.  If you’d like to get your own copy or several copies for your team, visit Jason’s blog for details.

Fistful of Talent and the HR Capitalist released their latest Talent Management Blog Power Rankings.  And, HR Bartender is thrilled to have made the Top 5!  Kris Dunn, Jessica Lee and the entire gang over at FOT are very special to the Bartender.  They’ve been a terrific resource and supporter since Day One.

And last but certainly not least, the latest Leadership Development Carnival was published over at Great Leadership blog.  I’m very honored that HR Bartender made the carnival.  Many of my fave bloggers are on the list such as Wally Bock, Mary Jo Asmus, Steve Roesler, Becky Robinson, Jennifer V. Miller and Mark Stelzner.

My sincere thanks to all of these people and organizations for their support.  It’s times like this when you realize none of us are able to do it alone.  Don’t forget to take a moment to thank and support the people and businesses in your network, community, and industry that support you.
