Remember
This weekend is Memorial Day. For Americans, it means a long weekend probably involving grilling and hanging out with friends. There’s nothing wrong with that. But during the course of our time off, please take a moment to reflect on the significance of this national holiday.
Memorial Day commemorates U.S. men and women who died while in military service.
The United States exists because our ancestors were willing to go to battle for our independence. And, we’re able to openly complain express our views about our economy, our government, etc. because people have defended those basic freedoms.
Regardless of your opinions about whether or not we should have participated in these wars (or should currently be participating in a war), this holiday is about honoring the people who have served our armed forces.
They deserve our respect.
