3G Heaven

When new items hit the market, I’m one of those folks who waits for everyone else to own it and work out the bugs before I buy one.  Except in one case – the iPhone.

I had an original iPhone within days of them hitting the market.  No – I didn’t camp out for one.  I’m not that fanatical.  But I did place an immediate order and have one FedEx to me.  Did it have all of the bugs the media described?  Yes, but it was cool.  I would go out to dinner, pull it out of my bag and you could just feel the stares of people who were envious that I had an iPhone and they didn’t.

It didn’t matter that the iPhone didn’t have all of the bells and whistles.  Over time, Apple introduced new features.  I’m not easily impressed but, when they introduced ringtones, I was impressed.  Not only can I have Dani California as my ringtone.  But I can select the portion of the song that I want to hear as my ringtone.  How cool is that?!

And, when Apple recently introduced 2.0, complete with web applications like Pandora and Twittelator…I was thrilled.

While some people want to complain about the bugs and all the things that the iPhone doesn’t do…I’m focused on the fact that this is history in the making.  And, I’m along for the ride.

So, when Apple announced the new 3G…it was just a matter of time.  This weekend, I’m in 3G Heaven.
