There are a lot of “whisperers” out there.
Dog Whisperer, Ghost Whisperer, Chicken Whisperer, Orchid Whisperer, you name it… The idea is that a whisperer conveys knowledge or information quietly or secretly. And I agree, it can be a very effective way to convey certain messages.
But today’s Time Well Spent from Kronos reminded me that some messages are better communicated in a different manner. Some information needs to be boldly, directly and maybe even loudly conveyed. I’ve seen on more than one occasion a small group win the debate or sell their idea because they were vocal and tenacious.
The most effective communications consider both the message and the medium.

Great message Sharlyn! I am constantly reminded that we are at a crossroads when it comes to workplace communication and intra- and inter-company interaction. While sometimes it seems like the only way to win is to be the *best*, we have to remember that now there are so many ways to be *different*. Those with a strong point of view should speak up – and maybe change things for the better!

I’d say that tactics on how you’re going to present your message depends on lots of factors: the message itself – a personal or a business matter; the listener, his/her current mood and personality type in general; the circumstances – formal or informal environment, etc. In order not to make a fatal mistake you either have to be a psycologist or to have a very srtong intuition.
