A few months ago, ProBlogger encouraged readers to create their own “watch list”. It was an opportunity for bloggers to share some of the blogs they like to read. Not a top ten list or an award. Just a list of blogs to watch. I really enjoyed the post because I was able to check out new blogs and see what others find interesting.
I particularly liked the post at Living by Design titled Four Personal Development Bloggers I’m Watching in 2010. I liked it because, not only did Ananga talk about the blogs, but she mentioned a couple of posts that had caught her attention. It was more thoughtful and personal than “read this blog because I said so”.
So I hope she doesn’t mind because I’m totally stealing her idea. Listed below are three blogs currently in my reader (and I have close to 150 blogs in RSS). I tried to pick ones you may not already be familiar with. Hope you enjoy checking them out:
$5 Dinners
Written by Erin Chase, the blog focuses on creating a $5 meal. And who wouldn’t like to figure out how to make a delish meal on a shoestring budget. In addition to recipes, Erin offers meal planning strategies and coupons.
Erin is also part of a blogging group called Savvy Blogging that discusses the business of blogging. I’m finding the conversation about turning blogging into a career to be fascinating.
Some of my favorite posts include:
Ginger Pumpkin Soup and Cheesy Sausage Muffins
Open Grill – Grilling Resources and Recipes
Hoovers
Many of you are familiar with Hoovers, the company that provides company and industry data. But did you know they have a blog? While I’ve never met Tim Walker (who manages the blog), he’s a great social media community manager. If you mention Hoovers or try to engage with them, he actually answers you! That might sound like a no-brainer, but there are plenty of people who have forgotten the power of a reply.
Couple of posts I really enjoyed are:
A follow-up on Will Smith’s philosophy.
Salespeople: When you do take “No” for an answer?
Lip-Sticking
The blog, created by Yvonne DiVita, has become so popular that it’s being expanded into a community site. Its focus is on women in business but honestly, I’ve had people tell me the content is applicable beyond just a woman-owned business viewpoint.
And if you like pets, Yvonne writes a pet blog called Scratchings & Sniffings.
A few of my favorite posts include:
“But, I Like My Loser Friends!”
They Say it Ain’t Bragging if it’s True
I hope you can find some time to check out these blogs, or search out some new content for your own reader. And if you know of a must-read blog, feel free to share it with community in the comments below. Cheers!

Sharlyn, first off, love the new header. I haven’t clicked through in a while so I am glad I did today. Also, thank you for the post mentions above. I am looking to widen the topics in my reader and found a few above that I’ve just started to follow. Hope to run into you on the road again – soon.

Thanks Lisa! I just finalized the header over the weekend. Enjoy the blogs. We do need to cross paths soon – or at least chat over the phone. 😉
