Today I’m heading to Chicago for the Society for Human Resource Management (aka SHRM) Annual Conference. I serve on SHRM’s special expertise panel on Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility and the panel meets prior to the event.
The conference is a wonderful time for me to connect with old friends and meet new ones. To learn more about the latest offerings in human resources from exhibitors and sponsors. And to hear sessions from experienced and knowledgeable speakers.
In my spare time – if there is such a thing, I hope to take some photos with my new olloclip. IMHO, mobile photography is going mainstream. The Chicago Sun-Times just laid off its entire photography department and will be training staff to take photos with their mobile phones. Will this work? Hmmm…don’t know. But it does show how far mobile photography has come. And where we may be heading.
I’m also on a mission to find the best burger in Chicago. Last time I was there, I had the venison burger at The Gage. Delish! But I’m looking for more. Going to Chicago? Got a burger recommendation? Leave it in the comments. I’m sure there’s no shortage of great eats in the Windy City.
Hope to see you at SHRM!
P.S. On July 1st, Google Reader is shutting down! If you’re reading there, you can follow me on Feedly, Old Reader, or Blog Lovin. Or sign up via email.

Among the best are:
1. Edzo’s Burger Shop
2. Kuma’s Corner
3. Top Notch Beefburgers
4. The Bad Apple
I will be heading to David Burke’s Primehouse today for lunch for the one named as 1 of the top 25 in the U.S. by Food & Wine.
I also have on my list Au Cheval, M Burger, and DMK Burger Bar. Chicago Cut also supposedly has a good one.

As a local I have a few opinions about Chicago burgers.
Chicago Burger Bar (North and Clyborn) has a Duck Burger right now that’s pretty fantastic. I’m a fan of “The Bad Apple” (solid fries too) and Kuma’s is pretty famous, but not a great dining experience (long wait, loud, etc.)
Have fun in Chicago — it’s a great city.

You can’t go wrong with Rockit Burger Bar in Wrigleville. Plus you get a great view of Wrigley Field while you nosh outside!

I’ll be watching the comments stream on your post, Sharlyn! I’ll be in CHicage if you want a burger buddy — maybe we can make our burger field trip in Atlanta last year the start of an annual SHRM tradition 🙂

Thanks for the suggestions! I’m going to have to plan another trip just to try them all.

I’m just going to chime in and say White Castles is really underrated. You can’t find them everywhere, but when you’re in Chicago they are a great treat!
Have fund at SHRM.
Best,
Rory
