You guys know I’m a foodie and a huge fan of the hamburger. So I was really jazzed to learn that May has been designated “National Hamburger Month”.
The history of the hamburger dates back to the 15th century where minced beef was considered a delicacy. The name hamburger comes from Hamburg, Germany where it was called a Hamburg steak. And according to the Library of Congress, the first hamburgers were served at Louis’ Lunch sandwich shop (est. 1895).
Today hamburgers have gone gourmet with celebrity chef’s like Bobby Flay, Emeril Lagasse and Hubert Keller creating signature burgers to feed the craze.
I love a good bacon cheeseburger – my latest fave is MunchBar at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. I’m always looking for new places to try. So please share…where’s your favorite burger joint?

I don’t have a favorite – I eat burgers when I am starving and want something fast, but that’s about it. I thought you might be interested in checking out the Big Reubenowski, which is a marriage of a reuben by Kenny & Ziggy’s deli in Houson. There’s a picture on their Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Kenny-Ziggys-New-York-Delicatessen/219730741380

OK – three here in Atlanta alone – Ann’s Snack Shack, Vortex, and Flip Burger (Richard Blais of Top Chef fame). Take your pick, one or all — my treat, if you are game, when you come to Atlanta for SHRM12 next month!! Look forward to seeing you then 🙂

If you’re ever in South Florida, Heavy Burger in Aventura is a good place to get a non-chain restaurant burger with a side order of rock ‘n roll.
Sharlyn Lauby says
Hey there! I live in South Florida…so Heavy Burger will move to the top of the list. Thanks!
