The latest Carnival of HR is posted over at HR Maven. The theme centers around the excitement of going back to school. I can really get into this one because I’ve always been one of those kids that liked school. I love to learn new things and there’s something very liberating and rewarding when you get that ah-ha moment.
When you head over to the Carnival, you’ll notice some common themes:
- Leadership and Management are essential to the success of your organization
- Employee Engagement and Retention is key to productivity
- Technology and other organizational efficiencies will continue to dominate business conversation
- And, when all else fails…have some bacon.
My thanks to HR Maven for assembling an awesome reading list and including HR Bartender in the mix. Cheers!

Hi! I'm Sharlyn Lauby, an HR pro turned consultant. I created the HR Bartender blog so people would have a friendly place to discuss workplace issues. And since, over the years, I've developed an appreciation for the culinary arts (translation: I'm a Foodie) you'll see some of that here too. So, pull up a stool and order your favorite drink . . . the bar is always open.

I like bacon too. I always am passionate about youth development. I thought this article may be of interest to readers RE: Back to School, parenting, and work-life Balance.
Sharlyn,
I enjoy your blog . As a fellow HR professional I like the range and mix of topics. Here’s one I’d like to share. Have you heard about Pink Slips and Parting Gifts? It’s my newly released business novel that HR professionals are starting to talk about! It’s the story of a memorable merger filled with juicy details only a human resources insider could know, but everyone in a corporate setting can appreciate. Check it out on Amazon, B&N, or your favorite online bookseller!
Have a great weekend!
