I can relate to the initial writer having landed in HR myself. I have found great satisfaction in growing within HR and staying close to sales by finding regional HR roles that support sales functions. These roles can be found in almost any industry from retail to consumer products companies to service companies. I have found alot flexibility in work hours and the ability to travel in the markets I serve. I get to use my previous retail sales and management experience to coach leaders and associates and become a true business partner.
