Sharlyn: Back to your Dress Code article.

I miss the way we use to look, in the so called "OLDEN DAYS" I look at the nurses in hospitals these days who do not wear their whites anymore . . . my word, what a difference in the REAL nurse look for the now day. We purchase all the different colors of the rainbow to wear, along with THE dirty, nasty sneakers. I can't tell the nurses from the patients. Although to me, the patients outshine the nurses. They are at least in the same uniform so we can recognize who they are. The nightgown with the open back.

I miss the whites and what the uniform stood for. At least the Doctors are still having their white coats. The day they come in with deniums, is the day, to pack it all in.

Yes, in the summer time, we all want to dress to be as cool as possible but why do we try to make everything so easy; again in the olden days without air conditioning, we stood with the elite and felt the freshness of a unifrorm that we had earned after so many hours of real head sweat.

Go on the New York subway in a suit in the summer time and get to the office with real sweat on your brow. I never thought about the fact that I was wearing a suit. Getting into the Board room and seeing the President of a huge corporation felt so good. Although it wasn't my suit that got me in . . . yet was it not?

Happy DAY. JWR
