We all know that the secret ballot is the backbone of our democracy. Since when is work a democracy, though?

I'm going totally off subject here, but my parents used to tell me that family decisions were not democratic, either. We did the right thing based on our family needs and our moral beliefs, and it wasn't up for discussion. I didn't get a vote. I had chores, I had to be accountable for my behavior, and I was expected to contribute around the house and get good grades. It wasn't going up for a vote.

It just bothers me that this debate on EFCA has spiraled out of control into total nonsense. Treat workers with respect, ensure their safety, and pay them a living wage. You won't need the unions.

You want hypocritical?

Check out this letter that EFCA-sponsors Reps. George Miller, Marcy Kaptur, Bernie Sanders, William Coyne, Lane Evans, and Bob Filner sent to Mexico in 2001 advocating for the need for secret ballots.

What's changed since 2001?
