Thanks everyone for jumping in on this conversation. Interesting about #3...day after I wrote the post, my local newspaper talked about identity theft being the 'crime du jour' for 2009. Let's hope that one turns out to be wrong.

And, I appreciate the book recommendation. Haven't read it...but will add it to my list. Best to you all in '09!

I think some of these are spot on. Nice post. I have been particularly interested in that results only work environment. Have you read that book Why Work Sucks and How to Fix it by Cali Ressler and Jody Thompson? They are the creators of Results Only Work Environment at Best Buy Corporate and it is fascinating

Good predictions. Lots of office chatter about #3 as several of my co-workers have recently been victims of theft and crime and they attributed it to the current economic problems. I am not so sure about #5. Most people are telling me they are worried about losing their job in 2009 and will not be rocking the boat for the time being.

Great post Sharlyn, as always! All excellent predictions, but #3 really caught my attention. I haven't seen a lot of organizations focusing on crime as a core issue. As you suggest, I also believe increased desperation will translate into a correlated increase in corporate espionage and white collar crime.
